Full Stack Software Engineer, Lab Platform (LIMS)

Insitro seeks a full-stack software engineer to build a lab platform (LIMS) that integrates scientific workflows, automation, and machine learning through agentic systems. The role spans frontend, backend, and instrument integrations, with users—scientists—based in the same office.
Responsibilities
- Build React and TypeScript frontends, Python backend services, and integrations with instruments and Benchling
- Own features end-to-end from scientist requirements through data model, UI, and monitoring
- Prototype and validate agentic tooling ideas with real users in iterative cycles
- Observe lab workflows and partner with machine learning, automation, and biology teams
- Design systems that maintain provenance and allow scientists to verify agent actions
Requirements
- 2–4+ years professional software engineering experience
- Working knowledge of AWS or GCP and relational databases
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and Python
- Product-oriented mindset with user-focused thinking
- Comfort navigating tradeoffs between quality and speed
- Experience with LIMS, lab automation, or life sciences domain (preferred)
- Prior work with agents, LLMs, or agentic systems (preferred)
