About the role

The Truck Sales Consultant is responsible for selling heavy duty Peterbilt trucks (medium duty included) in a designated territory to existing and new accounts. The representative will be responsible for interacting with well-established accounts plus developing new prospects within the territory.

*** Compensation: Base + Commission or Commission only plans

Essential Duties

• Maintaining well established loyal accounts.
• Prospect customers and accounts within an assigned territory
• Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy, keep buyers up to date on industry trends, CARB/Federal regulations plus products and services offered by our company
• Specifying/building trucks on Peterbilt software system, with a confident understanding of mechanical components Report to management utilizing company CRM system
• Detail reports using Microsoft applications to communicate with customers, management, internal departments and Peterbilt
• Access Peterbilt e-portal (website) to review/modify truck orders and stay current with training modules Build and present proposals plus PowerPoint presentations to clients
• Coordinate customer needs within the various departments of service, parts, finance and management

Qualifications

• Sales experience with truck, leasing, heavy equipment or transportation industry and/or a minimum of 3 years of sales experience and a 4-year college degree. 
• Clean DMV record and current driver’s license.

• Sales negotiation and closing skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office Suite.
• Self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.

Working Conditions

• Primary work is performed in an office or showroom environment.
• Regular travel to customer locations and outdoor truck lot.
• Exposure to weather conditions during vehicle inspections or demonstrations.
• Some evening or weekend work may be required to meet customer needs or attend events.

Cognitive and Physical Demands

• Ability to learn and retain product information and sales techniques.
• Capable of managing multiple customer accounts and deadlines.
• Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as vehicle specifications, financing terms, and warranty information.
• Effective memory and attention span for handling detailed sales and customer information.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.).
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle for customer visits and test drives.
• Occasional climbing in and out of trucks and bending to inspect vehicles.
• Use of standard office equipment including computer, phone, and copier.
