Traffic Engineer

Freese and Nichols is searching for a Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning team in one of our North Texas offices – Fort Worth, Dallas, or Frisco. The candidate will use their knowledge of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering to develop transportation design and planning solutions. Responsibilities Develop and design traffic engineering projects, preparing traffic studies, signal timing plans, operations analyses, microsimulation modeling, and technical reports. Prepare project plans and drawings for various projects, including traffic signal design and intersection improvements. Perform research, obtain traffic data for studies, prepare calculations, and conduct transportation analyses. Collaborate on technical activities for assigned projects, managing project budget and schedule. Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas. 3+ years of experience in traffic engineering. Basic experience using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, Synchro, VISSIM, and TRANSCAD. Familiarity with MUTCD, HCM, and AASHTO geometric design standards. Ability to collaborate within a project team setting. Self-directed with the ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight. Strong time and budget management, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) applications and design.
