Description Under the guidance of the Sports Director, the Youth Sports Coach is responsible for supporting the organization, delivery, and quality of YMCA sports programs to members, participants, and the community. The position works independently, welcomes feedback, and embodies the YMCA core values. General Functions Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Instruct program activities and aid program growth. Create lesson plans and facilitate classes. Set up and take down equipment. Assist in maintaining athletic facilities. Monitor equipment for maintenance needs and repairs. Promote YMCA core values and character development in all activities. Assist in branch fundraising activities and special events. Provide timely responses to supervisors, members, and community inquiries. Monitor daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies. Maintain a written attendance record for each class. Punch in and out for scheduled shifts, following company policy. Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor. Requirements Experience and Education: High School Diploma. At least three (3) years of work‑related experience with sport programs. Qualifications Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, directors, and staff. Strong problem‑solving abilities. Good time‑management skills. Trainings & Certifications Complete online Bloodborne Pathogen and Employee Safety trainings prior to initial assignment. Complete online Hazard Communication training within the first 90 days. Hold YMCA Child Protection Series, Darkness to Light, within the first 90 days. Physical Demands Ability to frequently stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, type, run, jump, kick, catch, throw, climb, kneel, bend, reach, balance, crouch, or crawl; lift or carry approximately 45 pounds; perform tasks requiring balance and reach with hands and arms; climb two flights of stairs every half‑hour. Special vision abilities required: distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work Environment Work is normally performed in a sports/gymnasium setting. The employee may be exposed to situations where injuries could occur, moderate to above average noise levels, outdoor weather conditions, and wet/humid conditions in pool areas.
