CNC Programmer / Process Engineer (2nd Shift) | 5-Axis Machining

Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 4:30 PM-2:30 AM

IQ Manufacturing is a growing precision machining company specializing in complex, tight-tolerance components for the aerospace, defense, automotive, and automation industries.

We're looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our 2nd shift team. In this role, you'll program advanced 3-axis and 5-axis milling equipment, develop efficient machining strategies, solve manufacturing challenges, and drive continuous process improvements.

What You'll Do

CNC Programming & Optimization

• Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for complex 3-axis and 5-axis milling applications.
• Develop efficient machining strategies, toolpaths, and tooling selections using NX, PowerMill, Mastercam, or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Verify programs through simulation and validation before release to production.
• Continuously improve cycle times, tool life, machine utilization, and overall process efficiency.

Solve Complex Manufacturing Challenges

• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T requirements, and customer specifications.
• Develop machining processes for complex, high-precision components.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues on the shop floor.
• Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve production challenges.

Process Improvement & Manufacturing Support

• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce setup time and improve throughput.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate documentation for machining processes, tooling, and program revisions.
• Assist with first-piece approval and process validation activities.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• CNC programming experience in a precision machining environment.
• Experience programming 5-axis milling machines.
• Proficiency with NX, PowerMill, Mastercam, or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience machining aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, or other high-precision components.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience supporting production machining and shop-floor process optimization.
