Facilities Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for repairing, maintaining, and performing routine maintenance on production equipment, plant utilities, plant service equipment, buildings, and grounds. This role involves significant mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical troubleshooting, read electrical diagrams and symbols, and interpret advanced electrical schematics.
• Read P&ID drawings and use handheld voltage meters, oscilloscopes, ammeters, etc.
• Familiarity with air compressors, HVAC systems, plumbing, welding, electrical/electronic equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and heavy manufacturing equipment.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices and adjust functional parts and control instrumentation.
• Maintain and repair air compressors, air dryers, gas systems, alarm systems, water, and vacuum systems.
• Follow Preventive Maintenance Instructions and ensure proper documentation.
• Install hydraulic systems, assemble hydraulic equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic equipment, including pumps, motors, and related parts.
• Read blueprints and diagrams to troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
• Complete required documentation for testing and repairs and keep records of all work.
• Participate in the plant's safety program and report any injuries or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area according to 5S standards.
• Participate in the High-Performance Team to improve work experience and offer suggestions for improvement.
• Determine preventive maintenance requirements for new equipment and educate operators on routine maintenance.
• Record accurate and timely data, including order completions and daily labor reports.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional associations.
• Investigate and resolve compliance problems and maintain required documentation.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed, including cross-functional or project team responsibilities.
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights, weekends, and additional hours as necessary.

Qualifications

• Vocational degree or technical school required, or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
• 5 years of related maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with OSHA Health and Safety rules and regulations.
• Experience with industrial plant electrical wiring, code requirements, troubleshooting, and machine mechanical and electrical operation.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Forklift certification or other mobile equipment certifications such as scissor lifts and jenny booms are preferred.
