Requirements

- Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience

- Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience required

- IV start skills required

- EPIC charting experience required

- Required certifications: BLS, IV certification, IV start competency

- Telemetry interpretation competency required

Roles & Responsibilities

- Provide comprehensive care to postpartum adults and healthy newborns, including assessment and management of common diagnoses and procedures.

- Monitor and manage postpartum recovery, including the administration of medications such as oxytocin/Pitocin and magnesium sulfate therapy.

- Assess and care for newborns, including phototherapy, NAS care, and management of basic neonatal hypoglycemia.

- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for mothers and newborns.

- Participate in patient education and support for new parents.

- Maintain accurate documentation and charting using the EPIC system.

Compliance / Notes

- Orientation: 36 hours

- Weekend coverage required

- Pre-approved time off: two days per contract

- Floating may be required to similar-acuity units within the organization

- Fingerprinting required prior to start

- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
