The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Part-Time Music Therapist to join our team. This position provides therapeutic music services to pediatric patients and their families, using music-based interventions to support emotional expression, developmental growth, coping skills, and overall quality of life. This role works collaboratively with interdisciplinary care teams to enhance the patient and family experience through individualized and group music therapy sessions. This part-time position will work Tuesday and Thursday each week working 8-hour shifts.

Essential Functions:

1. Conduct individual and small group music therapy sessions tailored to the developmental and emotional needs of pediatric patients.
2. Develop and implement individualized music therapy interventions and treatment plans based on patient assessments.
3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support holistic patient care.
4. Document therapy sessions, patient progress, and treatment goals in accordance with program and organizational guidelines.
5. Maintain and care for music therapy instruments and supplies to ensure safety and appropriate use with the pediatric population.
6. Support a calming, engaging, and therapeutic environment for patients and families through music-based activities.
7. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and care discussions when appropriate.
8. Maintain professional licensure/certification and continuing education requirements.
9. Perform all other relative duties, as assigned.

Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree required with 1 year of experience.
2. Successful completion of an accredited training program in Creative and Expressive Art Therapists (CEAT) modality, such as Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Dance/Movement Therapy, Drama Therapy, Yoga Therapy or Master’s degree preferred.
3. Board Certified Music therapist (MT-BC) preferred.
4. Experience working with pediatric and medically complex populations preferred.
5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Functional Requirements:

1. Partially active and partially sedentary position must be physically able to access the patients in the units and able to sit for long periods of time.
2. Must be able to push, pull, and occasionally lift, or carry up to 10-40lbs as required to access file boxes, supplies, etc.
3. Ability to move throughout the facility and interact directly with pediatric patients.
4. Ability to transport and set up music therapy equipment and instruments.
5. Ability to respond appropriately in dynamic patient care environments.
6. Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and courteous manner with other staff and guests.
7. Manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and telephone systems, and other typical office equipment.
8. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or access other means of transportation in order to travel locally for business related to The Children’s Home.
