Systems Safety Engineer

Description Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a System Safety Engineer to contribute to missile launching system programs. The role involves independent analysis and design support for system safety programs, ensuring safety is integrated into hardware and software, and working alongside senior safety engineers to enhance safety processes and methodologies. Key Responsibilities Analysis and design support for system safety programs. Requirements, interface, and operations analysis. System safety test and verification. Collaboration with senior safety engineers to embed safety into products. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline. Minimum 5 years of experience in conducting System Safety Programs. Experience with MIL‑STD‑882E and other relevant industry safety standards. Experience in system safety engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or a related field. Proficiency with MS Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project. Desired Skills M.S. Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent technical discipline. Experience with weapon/fire control system development, radar development, and/or electrical hardware design. Proficiency with Requirements and Model‑Based Engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO). Experience with software development tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps). Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA, NAS‑411. Experience with software safety standards such as JSSEH. Experience in Software Safety. Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance; the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance Level Secret Remote Work Availability Part‑time Remote Telework: Selected employees may work part of their schedule remotely and part of their schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedule Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules; schedules range from standard 40‑hour the week to condensed schedules. Specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Schedule for this Position: 4×10‑hour day, 3 days off per week. Pay Rate Annual base salary range (excluding most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York): $89,300 – $157,550. Annual base salary range (in major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York): $102,800 – $178,135.
