ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

This position is within a 30-bed Intensive Care Unit encompassing both Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU specialties. The facility is recognized as a comprehensive stroke center.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care to patients in the Neuro and Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
• Manage patients undergoing various procedures including CRRT, CABG, stroke interventions, and TNK therapies.
• Assist in bedside procedures such as intubation/extubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, transesophageal echocardiograms (TEEs), and cardioversions.
• Utilize advanced monitoring techniques, including interpretation of invasive hemodynamic values (e.g., CO, CI, SVV, CVP, SvO2).
• Administer care to patients requiring mechanical ventilation and various oxygen delivery methods, along with multiple vasoactive medications.
• Manage critical patients with conditions such as sepsis, GI bleed, COPD, CHF, and DKA.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a critical care environment is essential.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Must be willing to work every other weekend and every other holiday; flexibility to cover shifts as needed.
• Experience in managing patients undergoing general surgical procedures, neurosurgical interventions, and interventional radiology procedures.
• Preferred experience includes managing patients on assist devices (IABP, Impella, CRRT), and open-heart surgeries.
• Ability to maintain and initiate paralytics with monitoring protocols (TOF/BIS).

Floating between units may be required in the event of a low census in the ICU, and there are no requests for time off during holidays. This position entails night shifts, specifically from Friday at 7 PM to Monday at 7 AM.
