Registered Nurse - RN

Overview This position will cover the Home Therapy program in Beverly, MA, including Home Hemo Dialysis and Peritoneal dialysis. Monday - Friday schedule. Major holidays off. No prior dialysis experience required; 12 weeks of paid and structured training with an assigned Preceptor and Nurse Educator. Purpose and Scope Registered Professional Nurse Home Therapies RN CAP 1 is an entry-level designation in the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This role is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for an assigned group of patients. The RN manages patients’ response to home dialysis training and treatment therapy by following protocols and communicates patient-related issues to the physician as needed. As a member of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) health-care team, the RN participates in decision-making, teaching, leadership functions, and quality improvement activities that enhance patient care outcomes and facility operations. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Perform all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor. Collect and analyze dialysis data, document in the medical record, adjust treatment plans, and notify Supervisor or physician as needed. Assess, collaborate, and document patients’ and families’ basic learning needs to provide education. Direct and provide, in collaboration with the patient, home care partner, and ancillary staff, all aspects of safe dialysis delivery. Administer medications as prescribed, and document justification and effectiveness. Initiate or assist with emergency response measures. Serve as a resource for the health-care team, participate in staff training, and orient new staff as assigned. Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping procedures; reschedule missed or insufficient collections. Identify expected outcomes, document, and update nursing assessment and plan of care with the interdisciplinary team. Ensure patient awareness of transplant and treatment modality options. Assist in identification, evaluation, selection, and education of Home Dialysis candidates and Home Partners. Assess barriers in candidates’ home environments to determine readiness for home treatments. Train Home Dialysis patients and/or Home Partners on equipment operation and maintenance through a formal training program. Complete CAP requirements to advance. Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Direct patient care involving heavy lifting and movement of equipment and patients; assistance may be provided. Frequent, prolonged standing and bending. May be required to move machines up to 200 lbs and lift chemicals or solutions up to 30 lbs as high as 5 feet. Work in a health-care facility with controlled temperature and moderate noise levels. Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases/materials. Rotates coverage with other licensed home therapies staff; on-call rotation, night, weekend, holiday or as defined by program needs. May require travel to training sites, other facilities, or patient homes. Desktop and computer work, patient interaction, and interaction with facility staff and physicians. Supervision Provides oversight to LPNs/LVNs, RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Home Therapy Care Team Assistants as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in charge. Qualifications for supervision include successful completion of all FKC education and training requirements, minimum 12 months RN experience, and at least 3 months experience as RN in home peritoneal or hemodialysis. Education and Licensure Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current state licensure. Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification. Must meet practice requirements in the state of employment. Experience and Required Skills Entry level RN with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience. Minimum one year RN experience (preferred). Home dialysis therapy experience preferred. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate $35.00 – $59.00.
