Advanced Practice Provider Associate Site Lead

Overview The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Associate Site Lead is a Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) with demonstrated leadership skills and clinical excellence as an Advanced Practice Provider. This individual’s role is to provide accountability for the clinical, administrative, and human resources activities for the APPs at their respective site and support their Regional APP Leader in achieving and communicating organizational goals. They will be responsible for role optimization, orientation of new team members, advocacy, staffing, day‑to‑day clinical schedules and coordination, and for acting as the liaison to the local Chief of Staff. This position requires significant cross functional leadership in coordinating the activities of the site APPs within their area of responsibility with local physician and administrative leadership. This position is a secondary administrative appointment. Approximately 2.5% (4 hours per month) of their time is devoted to the associate site lead administrative duties and 97.5% to maintaining clinical practice. Responsibilities Patient Care Facilitates the delivery of safe, effective, timely, efficient, equitable, and patient- and family-centered care. Enhances patient care through scientific inquiry and the integration of evidence-based practices into direct care. Monitors clinical practices and develops programs that incorporate best practices. Communication Provides formal and informal clinical instruction, coaching and mentoring on all shifts. Administrative/Operational Tasks Provides oversight and leadership for designated specialty area. Ensures organizational and medical staff standards of competencies and quality and safety initiatives are met by participating in the competency process through Med Staff and development of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to optimize APP practice within the institution. Partners with Medical Staff Office, Credentialing Verification Office to oversee regulatory function of the APP role, including monitoring of licensure, credentialing, certification, billing and coding, reimbursement, and other regulatory requirements. Develops and monitors individual APP goals for clinical practice and professional development and provides feedback during annual performance review process regarding goal achievement Completes OPPE/FPPE or site-specific equivalent. Works with leadership to recruit and hire staff, establishes work schedules, supervises staff performance, participates in performance evaluations, and determines and disseminates quality activities and design for assigned staff. Professional Development Maintains own clinical competencies as required by medical staff privileging. Works with System Director to formulate plans for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Qualifications Education If Physician Assistant Master of Physician Assistant Studies (or equivalent degree) from an accredited Physician Assistant program If Nurse Practitioner Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Experience 2+ years of advanced practice clinical experience required 1+ year of advanced practice clinical experience for Shriners Children’s required Previous advanced practice leadership experience strongly preferred Certification and Licensures If Physician Assistant Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) If Nurse Practitioner American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or equivalent board certification in applicable specialty area, such as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC, CPNP-PC) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the state of practice Both Eligibility for active DEA may be required based on clinical assignment Must possess Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP).
