Experience with low-level system debugging, core operating systems concepts, and network configurations (including IP configurations, firewall rules, and ports exposed). Preferred qualifications Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field. 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms and software design patterns in embedded or low-level systems. 2 years of experience working on shipped Android-based or Linux-based consumer electronics or custom hardware devices, including device driver development, system performance tuning, and thermal configuration. 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role, guiding engineering direction or coordinating technical deliverables for a software team. Experience developing accessible technologies and implementing Android accessibility standards. Pay Range Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Write and test product or system development code (C++/Kotlin/Java) to control Beam custom hardware peripherals like cameras, displays, power, and thermal systems. Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies for Beam OS infrastructure, startup stability, and networking. Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback for developer workflows. Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality, owning local networking configurations, firewall rules, and exposed ports on the device.
