Remote Mainframe Programmer

Mainframe Developer
MGIC is looking for a mainframe developer to work with both IT and business stakeholders to support our data warehouse platform.
Responsibilities:
- Support existing ETL batch jobs by investigating production issues and enhance ETL code as needed.
- Support the data warehouse support team with weekly on-call rotation.
- Develop high quality scalable & maintainable code abiding by MGIC’s coding standards and best practices.
- Review code with other developers to share project and technical knowledge.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and QA testers to plan and execute in a high-performing agile environment.
- Participate in technical planning, determine tasks associated with project assignments, estimates, and dependencies.
- Work with solutions architecture team to design solutions that supports data warehouse business requirements.
- Update and modernize MGIC code to the latest supported versions to ensure security, stability, and support.
- Effectively communicate project status to teammates and leadership team.
Experience:
- At least five years of experience working with mainframe COBOL, Easytrieve, DB2, Oracle, and JCL.
- Experience with agile methodology using Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Open for continuous improvements.
- Experience with Service Now ticketing, a plus.
- Experience with JIRA, a plus.
Required skills: COBOL JCL job titles: Mainframe Programmer, COBOL Programmer, etc.
