Remote Mainframe Programmer

Mainframe Developer

MGIC is looking for a mainframe developer to work with both IT and business stakeholders to support our data warehouse platform.

Responsibilities:

• Support existing ETL batch jobs by investigating production issues and enhance ETL code as needed.
• Support the data warehouse support team with weekly on-call rotation.
• Develop high quality scalable & maintainable code abiding by MGIC’s coding standards and best practices.
• Review code with other developers to share project and technical knowledge.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and QA testers to plan and execute in a high-performing agile environment.
• Participate in technical planning, determine tasks associated with project assignments, estimates, and dependencies.
• Work with solutions architecture team to design solutions that supports data warehouse business requirements.
• Update and modernize MGIC code to the latest supported versions to ensure security, stability, and support.
• Effectively communicate project status to teammates and leadership team.

Experience:

• At least five years of experience working with mainframe COBOL, Easytrieve, DB2, Oracle, and JCL.
• Experience with agile methodology using Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Open for continuous improvements.
• Experience with Service Now ticketing, a plus.
• Experience with JIRA, a plus.
