Senior Power Systems Engineer / Technical Lead Hybrid - Houston, Texas May 11, 2026 KBR Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Systems Engineer / Technical Lead to join our growing power sector consulting practice. The role requires strong technical expertise in power generation technologies, including natural gas combined cycle, renewables, and energy storage, coupled with experience in project development advisory, pre‑FEED and FEED. The successful candidate will lead technical studies, front‑end design efforts, and client engagements supporting utilities, IPPs, and developers in project execution and energy transition initiatives, and will be a key part of the Americas Consulting leadership team reporting to the Regional Director. Functional Job Responsibilities Lead technical front‑end engineering design (FEED) studies for new power generation and repowering projects. Conduct feasibility assessments, technology evaluations, and integration studies (including grid interconnection and Distributed Energy Resources). Provide expert advice on generation technologies: gas turbines, combined cycle, solar, wind, nuclear power, battery storage, and additional solutions such as hydrogen blending and carbon capture. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on environmental, permitting, commercial analyses and M&A due diligence. Interface directly with clients and technology licensors to ensure technical alignment and project success. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge development within the practice. Support business development efforts with technical inputs for proposals and presentations. Lead technical marketing engagements such as whitepapers, thought leadership, and conference presentations. Required Education, Experience & Skills Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 15+ years of experience in power generation engineering and consulting, preferably with a focus on the U.S. market. Ability to work within a ‘seller‑doer’ model. Hands‑on experience with preliminary engineering studies and FEEDs for gas, renewables, and energy storage projects. Nuclear power experience is a plus. Strong understanding of grid interconnection requirements and DER integration. Strong understanding of regulatory environment. Knowledge of decarbonization technologies, including hydrogen and carbon capture, is a plus. Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage client relationships. Ability to lead technical teams and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Client relationships with U.S. utilities, IPPs, and developers.
