This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a project aimed at enhancing the legal reasoning capabilities of AI systems within the realms of energy and real property law. As a contract-based attorney or legal professional, you will review, annotate, and refine legal content from various documents, including leases, easements, conveyances, and interconnection agreements, ultimately contributing to the accuracy and clarity of AI-generated legal analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and annotate energy and real-property legal documents according to detailed written instructions.
  • Provide thorough, citation-backed determinations, referencing the document, page, and verbatim text that supports each conclusion, along with a clear natural-language explanation of your reasoning.
  • Apply consistent legal judgment across multiple documents and flag ambiguities for senior review.
  • Quality-check the work of other reviewers and assist in resolving disagreements as a more senior contributor.
  • Collaborate with researchers to assess and enhance model performance.
Ideal Qualifications
  • JD from an ABA-accredited US law school, paralegal, or land/title professional.
  • Active US bar license in good standing (for attorney-level roles).
  • Experience in real estate, energy, land use, or similar transactional practice.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret leases, easements, deeds, and similar instruments.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and skill in locating and citing primary authority.
  • Familiarity with energy projects (oil and gas, solar, wind, transmission) or wholesale power markets (e.g., RTOs/ISOs) is a plus.
  • Hiring will occur at three levels, calibrated during screening: Tier 1 (Specialist / Law Clerk), Tier 2 (Associate / Senior Associate), Tier 3 (Partner).
More About the Opportunity

Applicants must be based in the United States. A project-provided Chromebook will be shipped to you for this work.

Compensation & Contract Terms

Compensation ranges from $50 to $150 per hour for US-based professionals, depending on experience level.
