Environmental Analyst / Planner (CEQA/MND) - Division Lead

Job Description Job Description We are looking for a knowledgeable Environmental Analyst/Planner to spearhead our new Environmental Planning division. In this role, you will lead the preparation of environmental compliance documents, focusing primarily on Initial Studies, Categorical Exemptions, and Mitigated Negative Declarations (MNDs) for our land development projects. This position offers the chance to establish a new service line within a stable, growing firm, with the potential to expand into full Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs) in the future. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and managing CEQA documentation, specifically Initial Studies and MNDs. You will conduct environmental research and analysis to support project entitlements and coordinate with technical subconsultants for biology, cultural resources, noise, and air quality as needed. You will work closely with our internal engineering and planning teams to ensure environmental constraints are integrated into project designs early in the process, and you will liaise with lead agencies like LA County and the City of Santa Clarita to facilitate the environmental review and public circulation process. Requirements for this position include a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 to 8 years of direct experience preparing CEQA documentation in California. You must have a strong understanding of the CEQA process, particularly regarding MNDs and Initial Studies, along with excellent technical writing, research, and analytical skills. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet strict deadlines, and act as a self-starter with the ambition to build and manage a new department is required.
