Location Highlights Salinas sits in California's Central Coast region, about 20 miles from Monterey and roughly 35 miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea, giving travelers access to both agricultural valleys and Pacific shoreline destinations. Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and Monterey Bay are both within about an hour, with opportunities for coastal hiking, kayaking, and whale watching.
