Duties
Total Rewards of an Allied Health Professional Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Utilizes the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA), Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Document and Process Enabled Repositories (DAPER), and e-Rx Inbound e-Prescribing HUB for prescription processing.
- Reads and interprets prescriptions for completeness.
- Identifies missing pertinent information and corresponds with provider's office to resolve routine administrative questions, referring complex problems to an advanced technician or pharmacist.
- Enters correct drug name, drug strength, dosage form, directions, quantity, days' supply, and associated data fields into the beneficiary's medication profile. The prescription must be verified by a pharmacist.
- Utilizes pharmacy information systems to identify allergies and basic therapeutic problems such as duplicate therapy with drugs in the same drug class and alerts the pharmacist to the possible need for clinical intervention.
- Screens providers for eligibility by utilizing the Office of Inspector General website.
- Enters new provider information in VistA to include NPI number, DEA number, and expiration date when applicable.
- Sends correspondence to beneficiaries when a requested medication is not available. Documents correspondence with beneficiaries in the electronic health record.
- Participates in safety and quality improvement activities to continually improve services.
- Reports medication close calls and errors in alignment with the MbM reporting program
Work Schedule: Various Tours, Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:00pm

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
