Insurance Defense Attorney

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated, dedicated and proactive associate attorney with at least one year of insurance defense experience. The position involves managing a caseload of general liability matters, making court appearances in the New York City metropolitan area and regularly reporting to claims representatives. Essential experience includes depositions, court appearances and motion practice. Depending on the interest of the candidate, the position may also involve work on municipal liability/1983 matters and insurance coverage analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Frequent and timely reporting to clients and insurance carriers
• Represent clients in insurance defense matters related to automobile and premises accidents
• Manage and litigate cases from inception through trial and appeal, including pre-trial, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trial and appellate argument
• Appearances in state and federal courts throughout New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor degree
• Admission to NYS bar
• Minimum one year experience in insurance defense
• Admission to federal bar helpful but not required

Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience. Exact compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure, business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. Attorneys can augment their salaries by reaching reasonable billable-hour plateaus.
