Are you an experienced early childhood educator who is passionate about helping young children learn, grow, and thrive?

The Port Washington Children’s Center (PWCC) is looking for a dedicated, nurturing, and enthusiastic Lead Early Childhood Teacher to join our Early Childhood Program.

As a Lead Teacher, you will play an important role in creating a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. You will lead your classroom team, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and help create experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage the daily operation of your classroom
• Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences
• Provide a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
• Support each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and families
• Work collaboratively with Teacher’s Assistants and other members of the teaching team
• Provide guidance and support to classroom staff
• Maintain accurate classroom records and documentation
• Communicate regularly and professionally with families
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment
• Follow all health, safety, and OCFS regulations and requirements
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and center-wide activities
• Serve as a positive role model for children and fellow staff members

What We’re Looking For

• Experience as a lead teacher in an early childhood or preschool setting
• Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Familiarity with OCFS regulations and requirements
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A warm, patient, and nurturing personality
• Ability to lead and work effectively as part of a classroom team
• Dependable, responsible, and professional
• A genuine passion for working with young children
• Appropriate education and credentials required for the position under applicable OCFS regulations

Schedule: Full-time and Part-Time Available
Experience: Previous lead teaching experience preferred
