As a Clinical Advisor/Associate supporting GYN Oncology, you will serve in a focused clinical support role for physicians and surgeons at Salem Health. The primary focus of this position is to support the GYN Oncology program through clinical monitoring, proctoring, and surgical assisting. As organizational needs arise, you may also be called upon to provide similar support to OB/GYN physicians and surgeons.

You will apply for and maintain privileges in the Clinical Advisor/Associate staff category rather than as an Active Medical Staff member. The role is not intended to provide independent or ongoing direct patient care or establish an independent clinical practice at Salem Health.

Clinical Advisor/Associates may participate in surgical cases for the purpose of monitoring and/or proctoring GYN Oncology physicians and surgeons and may provide surgical assistance during those cases when appropriate. Once a physician no longer requires monitoring or proctoring, the Clinical Advisor/Associate may continue to provide surgical assistance when requested and available, consistent with granted privileges. Similar support may be provided to OB/GYN physicians and surgeons as needed.

GYN Oncology

The Salem Health GYN Oncology program provides highly collaborative, patient-centered care for patients with complex gynecologic conditions and malignancies. The Clinical Advisor/Associate will work closely with GYN Oncology physicians, surgical teams, and medical staff leadership to support safe, high-quality surgical care and physician competency.

This role requires a high degree of professionalism, sound clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to provide objective and constructive feedback while supporting a collaborative physician environment.

What you’ll do

• Provide clinical monitoring and proctoring for designated GYN Oncology physicians and surgeons.
• Observe and assess surgical performance consistent with established monitoring or proctoring requirements. Provide surgical assistance during monitored or proctored cases, when appropriate.
• Provide surgical assistance for GYN Oncology procedures when requested and available, including after formal monitoring or proctoring requirements have been completed.
• Provide similar monitoring, proctoring, and/or surgical assistance for OB/GYN physicians and surgeons as organizational needs arise.
• Provide timely, objective feedback and required documentation related to monitoring and proctoring activities.
• Collaborate with medical staff leadership, clinical teams, and surgical services to support physician competency, patient safety, and quality of care.
• Participate in relevant quality, peer review, or medical staff activities as appropriate to the Clinical Advisor/Associate role.
• Maintain privileges and professional requirements applicable to the Clinical Advisor/Associate staff category.
• Contribute positively to the Salem Health medical staff community and a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications

• Hold a degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Currently hold, or are able to obtain, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oregon.
• Hold a current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
• Hold Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology or are eligible and able to obtain within 5-years of initial appointment to the Medical Staff, through the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
• Three years of experience preferred Demonstrate experience and current competency, to include the performance of at least 30 gynecologic diagnostic/ therapeutic inpatient/outpatient hospital procedures in the past 24 months.
• Performance of at least 50 deliveries in the past 24 months.
• Robotics training required
