Registered Nurse (RN) MWT PACU

Job Description We are searching for a Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU – someone who works well in a fast‑paced setting. In this position you’ll provide quality nursing care by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age‑appropriate care that incorporates family‑centered principles and cost‑effective care. You will collect and analyze data from the medical record to coordinate patient care. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing or another nursing degree with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or the Nurse Licensure Compact and BLS certification – required 9 months of professional nursing experience Positive interpersonal skills, good time and resource management, flexibility, strong oral and written communication, knowledge of unit‑specific equipment and the nursing process, critical thinking, PALS, and interdisciplinary collaboration All successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. Responsibilities Perform and document assessments of the patient/family, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs Collect and analyze data from the medical record to coordinate patient care Analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect changes in patient status Identify each patient’s needs related to teaching, discharge planning, growth, nutritional screening, functional status, and pain management Develop an individualized plan of care based on the nursing assessment and re‑prioritize or change as necessary Determine applicable standards of care and coordinate with other health team members as appropriate Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences Execute therapeutic physician or nurse interventions according to established standards Evaluate and document the patient’s response to care and recognize progress toward desired outcomes Identify barriers to learning and use teaching strategies to overcome them Maintain confidentiality concerning patient/family issues Act as a resource in educating new employees/team members Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals, structures, and priorities Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Texas Children’s is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
