Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: ICU or STICU experience in level 1-2 trauma centers Description: This position is in a unit with 20 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2:1, but 1:1 is not uncommon for higher acuity patients. The unit handles neuro patients experiencing herniation and requiring treatments such as "brain drains." Ortho trauma cases requiring traction are also treated here. Cardiovascular devices including balloon pumps, impellas, and ekos are used, along with post-op open-heart CABG patients. Open abdomens from surgery are often re-opened at the bedside. The unit is preparing to implement an ECMO program. We seek travel nurses with experience in ICUs or STICUs from level 1-2 trauma centers. The patient population is unique, with a high number of renal patients requiring bedside CRRT. Specialized training on devices is preferred in addition to general ICU experience. Medical ICU patients may be admitted to this unit if bed space is needed.
