Job Description

This role focuses on industrial pipefitting work alongside TIG welders for a leading industrial contractor in the Richmond region. You will work at a variety of industrial sites, supporting construction projects, plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and ongoing maintenance activities. The position involves installing, fitting, and supporting piping systems in demanding industrial environments while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Install, fit, and assemble industrial piping systems according to blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
• Work closely with TIG welders to prepare, align, and support piping components for welding and final installation.
• Interpret and follow industrial blueprints, drawings, and isometric sketches to plan and execute pipe runs and layouts.
• Perform pipe fitting tasks on stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, PVC, and other industrial piping materials.
• Support industrial construction projects, plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance activities across multiple sites in the Richmond region.
• Assist with pipe installation for process piping, steam systems, compressed air systems, and utility piping networks.
• Apply proper rigging and material handling practices when moving, positioning, and securing piping and related components.
• Collaborate with site teams to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards.
• Inspect completed pipe installations for proper alignment, fit, and function, and make adjustments as needed.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
• Follow all site-specific safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and training as required.

Essential Skills

• At least 3+ years of industrial pipefitting experience in environments such as manufacturing, chemical, or pharmaceutical facilities.
• Strong proficiency in industrial pipe fitting, including reading and interpreting blueprints and industrial drawings.
• Experience working with TIG welds and supporting TIG welders during pipe installation and fabrication.
• Hands-on experience with industrial maintenance and pipe installation in shutdowns, turnarounds, or maintenance projects.
• Ability to work with stainless steel, carbon steel, copper, PVC, and other common industrial piping materials.
• Knowledge of rigging techniques and material handling practices for safely moving and positioning piping and equipment.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industrial safety standards applicable to construction, shutdown, and maintenance work.
• Experience with process piping, steam systems, compressed air systems, and utility piping in industrial settings.
• Capability to work from blueprints and isometric drawings to lay out and install piping systems accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge in industrial construction, maintenance, or plant operations environments.
• Experience working during industrial shutdowns and turnarounds with tight schedules and high safety requirements.
• Comfort working closely with TIG welders and other skilled trades on multi-disciplinary industrial projects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship in complex piping systems.
• Ability to adapt to different industrial sites and project types within the Richmond region.
• Solid understanding of industrial safety practices and willingness to participate in ongoing safety training.

Work Environment

The role is based in industrial environments across the Richmond region, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and chemical facilities. Work frequently occurs during plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance periods, which may involve varying schedules and extended hours depending on project needs. You will work closely with TIG welders and other industrial trades in active facilities where strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA standards is required. The environment includes exposure to typical industrial conditions such as noise, machinery, and process equipment, and requires appropriate personal protective equipment in line with site safety policies.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, VA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
