Recommend and develop policies for inspection standards, decontamination procedures, emergency procedures, waste handling, and disposal services. Control personnel radiation exposures, environmental releases, and surface-type contaminants. Stay abreast of federal, state, local, and industry radiation protection regulations and ensure compliance. Develop and direct radiation training and monitoring programs. As a Radiological Training for Nuclear Engineers (RTNE) instructor, develop and deliver initial and continuing radiological training for nuclear engineers at NNS to support Article 109 qualification. Prepare and administer retention of knowledge examinations. Maintain administrative training records in physical form and in LX. Implement continuous improvement initiatives for training operations. Use MS Office suite (especially presentation software), Success Factors, CheckBox, and other learning development/delivery platforms. Demonstrate professionalism, leadership, and radiological expertise inside and outside the classroom, create a positive learning environment, and encourage a principles-based approach to applying radiological controls. Have experience with writing and/or reviewing Naval Nuclear work instructions that contain radiological controls, especially for complex nuclear and/or radiological work; prior experience as an Article 109 RTNE Instructor meets this expectation.
