- # Description**Job Purpose**: The primary purpose of the Firefighter position at Harris County Emergency Services District No 24 is to protect lives and property by responding to emergency situations, including fires, accidents, and other incidents where risks are posed to life and property. This role involves performing fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services, as well as participating in training and preparedness activities to ensure readiness for any emergency. **Key Responsibilities:*** Respond promptly and efficiently to fire alarms and other emergency calls.* Perform fire suppression activities, including fire control and extinguishment.* Conduct rescue operations to save individuals from life-threatening situations.* Provide emergency medical care and assistance as an EMT-Basic certified professional.* Participate in regular training sessions to maintain and enhance firefighting and emergency response skills.* Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus in a state of readiness.* Collaborate with other emergency services personnel to ensure effective incident management.* Engage in community education and outreach programs to promote fire safety awareness.* Maintain accurate records and reports related to incidents, training, and equipment maintenance.* Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure personal and public safety.## Qualifications**Required Education:*** TCFP – Basic Structure Firefighter Certification* NIMS: 100, 200, 700, & 800 Certifications* TDSHS EMT-B Certification* High School Diploma* Current State of Texas Class B driver's license* Courage to be Safe training certification.* Cancer Awareness training certification.* National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder training certificationRequired Experience:* Proven experience in firefighting and emergency response operations.* Experience in conducting and participating in training exercises and drills.* Familiarity with the use and maintenance of firefighting equipment and tools.**Required Skills and Abilities:*** Strong ability to work effectively under high-pressure situations and make quick, informed decisions.* Excellent physical stamina and fitness to perform demanding tasks in various environments.* Proficient in communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with team members and the public.* Ability to follow protocols and safety regulations meticulously.* Competency in using technology and software relevant to emergency services.* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
