Milwaukee Mobile Crisis Intern Behavioral Health Services Hourly Pay: $15 Closing Date: 5/27/2026 or upon receipt of 50 applications Part-Time Internship On-site clinical supervision provided Job Summary: This internship is a minimum of 2-3 semesters, with a minimum of 16 hours per week. The Milwaukee Mobile Crisis Intern position is a member Milwaukee Mobile Crisis team. Milwaukee Mobile Crisis team engages in community-based services which provides mental health crisis intervention to callers of all ages on the Milwaukee County Crisis Line while strongly focusing on responding in person throughout Milwaukee County to assess, stabilize and link individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The interns will function as part of a multidisciplinary team that provides crisis assessment, stabilization, linkage, and follow-up services over the phone, in person, face to face, and in the community seven days per week. The Milwaukee Mobile Crisis team is an interdisciplinary group made up of social workers, nurses and licensed counselors who respond to all community mobiles in pairs of two. The team intervenes with individuals of all ages in a variety of setting throughout the county including homes, schools, businesses, hospitals, and police stations. Conduct psychiatric and psychosocial assessments of children and adults with significant mental health and co-occurring needs. Regularly evaluate dangerousness to self and others in children and adults with significant mental health and co-occurring needs. Intervene and manage the acute crisis phase of mental illness in the community. De-escalate, stabilize, and resolve mental health crisis events (may include remaining with the individual in their community setting until stabilized and linked with other services). Effectively reduce any danger to self or others by providing therapeutic interventions, arranging for immediate services, and connecting to services/supports in the community until the danger is eliminated and the person is engaged in therapeutic services. Implement plan of care by utilizing psychotherapeutic interventions, related to crisis assessment and the development of a crisis plan. Provide assurance through follow up contact to ensure intervention plans developed during the crisis are successful. Receive ongoing scheduled supervision from a licensed staff member. Provide support to other internal Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Crisis Programs, external contracted programs, and telephone triage. Participate in community engagement and outreach. Perform all other duties as assigned. Authorized to work in the United States. Currently in a Master’s degree program in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or in a closely related field. Possession of a valid United States Driver's License, able to be maintained throughout employment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook). Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Able to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Able and willing to travel 50% of the time within the community. Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. as needed.
