Bakery / Distribution Center Checker-Loader

Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour

Position Summary

The Bakery, Sales Center, or Distribution Center Checker/Loader is an entry-level position responsible for supporting daily distribution and warehouse operations. This position plays an important role in ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, prepared, checked, and loaded for delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Move and organize stacks of bakery products throughout the distribution area.
• Pick and fill customer orders according to assigned routes.
• Use WMS (Warehouse Management System) and computer/PC-based data-picking systems.
• Operate pick-to-light programs and/or voice-activated picking equipment.
• Check orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Stack, carry, push, and pull product as needed.
• Follow all established warehouse, distribution, and safety procedures.
• Maintain product integrity and help ensure food safety and food quality standards are met.
• Follow procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan, Food Quality Plan, SQF system, and other applicable audit requirements.
• Report food safety or food quality concerns and take appropriate action to prevent problems from occurring.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Must understand the distribution process.
• Must be familiar with WMS and PC/computer-based data picking.
• Ability to accurately pick and prepare orders.
• Ability to operate warehouse picking equipment and systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stack and carry product trays.
• Ability to push and pull stacks of product.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced distribution environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with warehouse technology and computer-based picking systems. Previous distribution, warehouse, order-picking, WMS, or loading experience is helpful.
