Key Responsibilities of the Med/Surg Registered Nurse

• Apply nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery of compassionate care
• Assess patient/family needs and develop individualized care plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to set and monitor patient goals
• Promote patient health and safety, enforce infection prevention strategies
• Educate patients/families for continued care post-discharge
• Evaluate nursing practice quality and effectiveness for ongoing improvement
• Develop caring relationships with patients/families for enhanced care delivery
• Administer medications and other interventions skillfully

Requirements of the Med/Surg Registered Nurse

• New York State RN Licensure
• BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only)
• NIHSS Certification
• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical experience
