We're gearing up for another Minnesota winter and need an experienced, dependable On-Call Mobile Mechanic to support our snow removal operations throughout the Twin Cities metro area. This role is focused exclusively on snow events, providing mobile mechanical support to keep our snow removal trucks and equipment operating safely and efficiently during winter weather operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who wants flexible, event-based work and can respond when winter weather demands it. Must have proper tools, diagnostic equipment, and mobile repair vehicle.

The Job

Respond to snow events and provide on-site mechanical support at job sites, yards, and equipment staging locations throughout the Twin Cities.

Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with trucks, loaders, skid steers, plow trucks, spreaders, and other snow removal equipment.

Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, electrical systems, starting and charging systems, and other equipment malfunctions.

Perform emergency repairs to minimize equipment downtime during active snow operations.

Complete minor repairs and maintenance in the field when conditions allow.

Identify equipment safety concerns and communicate necessary repairs or equipment restrictions to operations leadership.

Maintain an organized mobile service vehicle and ensure tools, parts, and supplies are available.

Communicate repair status, equipment readiness, and additional repair needs to operations leadership.

Follow all company safety procedures and safe work practices when working in winter weather and low-visibility conditions.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, truck mechanic, or mobile service technician.

Working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment troubleshooting.

Experience repairing commercial trucks and/or heavy equipment preferred.

Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and make sound repair decisions under time-sensitive conditions.

Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of reporting to designated locations.

Ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures, snow, and other challenging winter conditions.

Must have the tools and technical skills necessary to perform field repairs.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Schedule and Work Environment

On-call work exclusively during snow events. No routine year-round or daily work is expected.

Availability may be required overnight, on weekends, holidays, and during extended snow events.

Response times and work locations will vary based on weather conditions and operational needs.

Must be prepared to respond on short notice when snow operations are activated.

Work will take place outdoors and at multiple locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area.

What We Offer

Competitive pay: $40-50/hour DOE
