Job Title: House Manager and Family Assistant

Employment Type: Part-Time | 30 hours per week guaranteed

Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 12:00PM to 6:00PM. Occasional flexibility for later afternoons or evenings is appreciated, with advance notice whenever possible. 

Compensation: $25–$35 / hour 

Start Date: ASAP

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license and clean driving record; a family vehicle will be provided for work-related transportation and errands. 
• Prior experience in a family assistant, household management, nanny, or similar role is preferred. 

About Our Family

We're a busy, active family with three school-age kids and a brand-new fluffy addition to the household. Both parents work full-time, so we value having a home that feels organized, calm, and well cared for. Our home is warm, active, and lived-in, with plenty happening throughout the week. We're looking for a House Manager who can bring a calm, capable presence to the household and help keep all the details of daily life running smoothly. 

We have regular cleaning and major household maintenance services in place, so this role is focused on the day-to-day needs of our home and family, including household organization, laundry, errands, family scheduling, and afternoon support with our children.

We're looking for someone who notices what needs to happen next and takes care of it—whether that's switching a load of laundry, grabbing something from the store, or making sure the right jersey is clean before game day. You enjoy staying organized, anticipating needs, and helping a busy family stay one step ahead. You're comfortable balancing household responsibilities with afternoon transportation and family support, adjusting priorities as the day unfolds.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

• Pick up children from the bus stop (approximately 15 minutes from home) and transport them to after-school activities, often with quick turnaround times between stops
• Provide backup transportation for sick days, field trips, schedule changes, or activity conflicts
• Help kids pack and unpack for trips, extracurriculars, and other commitments
• Assist with kid-related errands and logistics
• Provide a reliable, warm presence during the afternoon transition home
• Help children prepare for the following day's activities, including ensuring that sports equipment, school supplies, and other essentials are ready.
• Coordinate with parents regarding transportation needs, schedule changes, and upcoming activities.

Household Management and Organization

• Perform a daily household reset, including dishes, tidying, unloading the dishwasher, and keeping common areas orderly
• Manage incoming packages, mail, and deliveries
• Break down boxes and keep entry and drop-off areas organized
• Maintain household and pet supplies and flag items that need attention
• Handle occasional minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or batteries
• Conduct seasonal tasks including clothing swaps, décor transitions, and donation drop-offs
• Help maintain household organization systems, including closets, storage areas, children's belongings, and other frequently used spaces. 

Laundry & Linens

• Manage all household laundry from start to finish, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away
• Handle delicates and special-care garments with appropriate care
• Change and rotate bed linens
• Keep laundry areas clean, organized, and well stocked

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, refrigerator, household, and pet supplies as needed
• Maintain running shopping and supply lists
• Manage household subscriptions and recurring orders through services such as Amazon, Costco, and Target
• Handle returns, dry-cleaning drop-offs, and general errands
• Sort and manage incoming mail and packages
• Assist with occasional gift shopping, birthday preparations, and other family-related errands as needed. 

Meal Planning and Prep

• Warm up meals or pull items from the freezer for kids before activities
• Make occasional quick store runs for food or forgotten items
• Provide light kitchen cleanup and maintenance throughout the day
• Help ensure kids have something easy and appropriate to eat during busy activity windows

Vehicle Upkeep

• Keep the family vehicle provided for work use fueled, tidy, and ready for daily transportation and errands.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating routine vehicle maintenance as needed.

Pet Care

• Take the dog outside upon arrival and as needed
• Provide walks and basic day-to-day care
• Drop off and pick up the dog at veterinary or grooming appointments as needed
• Maintain and restock pet supplies

Vendor and Property Oversight

• Coordinate with existing household service providers as needed, including communicating scheduling needs and providing access to the home when appropriate. 
• Assist with light seasonal outdoor tasks, such as tidying patio furniture or organizing outdoor items. 

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Perform periodic deep cleaning of high-use areas, such as the refrigerator, pantry, mudroom, and entryway, between regular cleaning visits.
• Assist with seasonal household organization projects, including clothing swaps, holiday decorations, and organizing closets and storage areas.
• Assist with occasional household projects and other tasks as needed to keep the home organized and running smoothly.
• Assist with seasonal outdoor space maintenance and pool/patio close-up tasks.

Administrative & Calendar Support

• Maintain awareness of family calendar and anticipate upcoming household needs 
• Provide proactive reminders regarding upcoming events, appointments, deadlines, and schedule changes.
• Help coordinate children's activities, appointments, and other family logistics as requested.
• Anticipate upcoming needs related to school events, sports, travel, holidays, and family commitments.
