Licensed Vocational Nurse Opportunity At Momentum Spine And JointMomentum Spine and Joint is looking for a full-time Licensed Vocational Nurse to join the team! The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for admitting patients to the clinical area and providing nursing care to the pre-operative patient, as well as developing a nursing care plan specifically designed for the individual patient. The center operates on a teamwork-based staffing model, where employees may receive cross-training in various clinical areas and may be required to take on additional responsibilities as staffing levels and patient needs evolve.Essential FunctionsEnsures the pre-operative area always has a clean and therapeutic environment for all patientsGives instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistantEnsures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working orderAdmits the patient to the unit and prepares him/her for the scheduled procedureMakes an initial assessment and determines the nursing needs of the patient, communicates additional discharge needs when applicable (transportation, durable medical equipment)Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxietyIdentifies patient's physical and mental statusMonitors patient's medical condition, reports any significant changes to the admitting physician or anesthesiologistAssures surgical consent, pre-operative test results and History and Physical are in the medical record prior to proposed procedurePerforms pre-op and post-op calls to patientsReports any important health history facts to the operating room nurse/medical directorEducates patients and family, gives patients and family members emotional support as necessaryDocuments patient care delivered, accurately in the medical recordImplements doctor's orders in a timely and accurate mannerDevelops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and other employeesDocuments concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policyPlans for routine events and anticipates/prevents and manages/evaluates emergent situationsCompletes patient care responsibilities in a timely manner with accurate documentationProtects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA requirementsUses downtime efficiently, aware of team members workload and constantly helps and responds positively to requests for assistance from other team membersPerforms other related tasks as neededKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesUnderstands and maintains clinical competencies (general, age specific and drug administration)Demonstrates clinical problem solving and critical thinking, makes decisions using evidence based analytical approachAdapts to unexpected changes, effectively acclimate to various work schedules to achieve high quality of careStrong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word & E-ClinicalStrong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasksHas self-control to maintain composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in difficult situationsAbility to adequately diagnose, plan and implement nursing interventions and evaluate patient conditionPractices nursing within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of Texas and accepts responsibility and accountability for own actionsAbility to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient's condition changesHigh stress tolerance: accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situationsAbility to work independently, guiding oneself with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to get things doneAbility to maintain records, effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flowAbility to clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to equipmentDemonstrates excellent and professional patient interaction skills, ensuring clear communicationPossesses exceptional customer service abilities and outstanding phone etiquetteFosters effective teamwork, collaborative nursing and patient-centered careEducation And ExperienceGraduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or vocational schoolLicensed Vocational Nurse in the State of TexasOne (1) year of experience in a medical office settingBasic Life Support (BLS) certifiedAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifiedBenefits Offered3 Medical Plans2 Dental Plans1 Vision PlanEmployee Assistance ProgramShort and Long-Term Disability InsuranceBasic and Voluntary Life with AD&D Plan401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + Holidays
