Behavior Specialist
Lifesteps is currently seeking a Full-Time Behavior Specialist to work with individuals who live in a Lifesteps community home or are external participants. Behavior Specialists promote individual health, safety, and quality of life through behavioral skill development.
The Behavior Specialist is based in the Murrysville / Monroeville area and will travel throughout Westmoreland, Washington, and Allegheny Counties, providing services to adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
The schedule is 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Job Duties
- The Behavioral Specialist performs a functional assessment and develops strategies to support a participant accordingly. This could include: social emotional plans, functional behavioral analyses, behavior plans, restrictive procedures, and associated documentation necessary for tracking plan implementation.
- Provides on-site training to participants, staff, parents and caregivers and monitors participant success.
- Develops effective behavior support plans to be utilized by the care team and evaluates participant progress.
Qualifications
Required: Master's Degree in Human Services or a closely related field. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Current driver's license and valid auto insurance.
Preferred: Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and experience working with adults with an intellectual disability ABA Certification Trama-informed care, such as Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) or Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) PA Behavior Specialist Licensure
