Emergency Medical TechnicianProvides emergency medical care to the sick and injured patients in the prehospital environment; effectively communicates with all persons and departments involved in the administration of Emergency Medical Care.Essential Responsibilities:Drives emergency or response vehicle.Determines nature and extent of illness or injury; provide basic and advanced life support to the critically ill and injured during treatment and transport in the prehospital setting.Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards.Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies including BLS and ALS and has accountability for medications on every EMS unit per regulatory standards.Performs other duties as assigned or required.Qualifications:Minimum:High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceFor Prehospital Response Unit: 5 years' relevant experience and current preceptor statusMedical Command eligiblePA Paramedic license or EMS Compact Privilege to Practice in Pennsylvania at the Paramedic level or licensed PHRNValid Driver's LicenseEMSVO within 30 days of hireACLS within 30 days of hireITLS/PHTLS within 2 months of hirePALS within 30 days of hireCPR – American Heart AssociationAct 34 Criminal Background Clearance CertificateAct 33 Child Abuse Clearance CertificateAct 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance CertificatePreferred:Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Haz-Mat Technician.
