Clinical Nurse II - Operating Room, Day shift

The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of surgical patients throughout the episode of care with a focus on progress toward discharge, including during transitions within the acute care stay. The surgical nurse acts as the patient’s advocate during the surgical procedure. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to patients, hospital staff, referring facilities, and other stakeholders in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Implement physician orders, administer medications to the sterile field, and document as required by organizational policy and local, state, and federal regulations. Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care rendered. Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions. Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing. Act as the patient advocate in the surgical setting. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of a professional academic nursing program; a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree is preferred. Current New York State Registered Nurse license. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS); CNOR certification is preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of prior clinical RN experience in a surgical setting. Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem‑solving tools with the ability to apply them to support departmental and patient‑care quality improvement.
