Position Overview
We are seeking a Packaging Engineer I to support the design, development, and processing of implant and instrument packaging under the direction of a project leader or manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in packaging science or engineering and the ability to develop packaging solutions that meet requirements for manufacturability, inspectibility, functionality, and cost effectiveness.
This position will work closely with project teams and surgeons to evaluate packaging concepts, develop prototypes, conduct product testing, and generate comprehensive design assurance documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, development, and processing of implant and instrument packaging under the direction of a project leader or manager.
- Design packaging solutions with consideration for manufacturability, inspectibility, and optimum cost .
- Generate prototype models to evaluate new design concepts.
- Coordinate product evaluation with surgeons and other relevant stakeholders.
- Generate comprehensive protocols for testing and analyzing products .
- Develop and maintain design assurance documentation for assigned projects.
- Support the evaluation and development of new packaging design concepts.
- Collaborate with project leadership and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the packaging development process.
- Ensure packaging designs meet applicable project, quality, and performance requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline is required.
- 3 5 years of relevant experience preferred/required for the role.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability .
- Experience with design for inspectibility and cost-effective packaging solutions.
- Ability to develop and evaluate prototype models .
- Experience developing testing and analysis protocols .
- Ability to create and maintain design assurance documentation .
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an onsite, project-oriented engineering environment .

Candidate Requirements
- Candidates must be local to the Warsaw, IN area .
- Relocation is not accepted.
- Position is 100% onsite .
- Must be available for phone and in-person interviews .
- Any visa/work authorization is acceptable.
Education & Experience
Education:
B.S. in Packaging Science or Engineering required.
Experience:
3 5 years of relevant experience preferred/required. The original requirement also references 0 1 years of experience , so this should be confirmed with the vendor/client before submission to avoid candidate qualification discrepancies.
