Distribution Designer

Opportunity Stantec is hiring Distribution Designers to join our Power Delivery group. This role involves working on a wide variety of projects, including transmission, distribution, substation, converter stations, telecom, protection and control, renewable energy, and generation. Key Responsibilities Perform site visits for field data collection and verification of existing distribution lines, facilities, and project requirements. Prepare cost estimates on design and fielding efforts. Perform detailed design and engineering calculations of overhead electric distribution systems to comply with client standards, specifications, and relevant industry standards (NESC, GO95, GO128, etc.). Develop bill of material required for construction based upon client standards and preferences. Develop permit drawings as necessary to accommodate construction. Support day‑to‑day project activities from inception through engineering, construction, and commissioning. Function as project engineer on assigned projects. Report project progress to the senior engineer. Capabilities and Credentials Working knowledge of design, construction, O&M of overhead and underground distribution lines below 34.5 kV. Experience with IkeGPS or other GPS field data collection platforms is desirable. PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Pole, and OCalc experience is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects with various due dates. Travel is expected. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or a 2‑year associate degree. Minimum 3 years of utility experience (electric, water, gas, or telecom). Work Environment Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to inclement weather. Pay Range Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas: $62,900.00 - $88,100.00 Annually Pay Transparency In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Final compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible.
