Job Description What we can offer you The Daily Beast is looking for a Senior Digital Analyst to work as a part of the Analytics team to manage traffic/KPI reporting and provide actionable insights across all departments. This person is data-driven and analytical by nature and enjoys pulling data from disparate datasets to better understand the Daily Beast’s growing audience, investigate problems, and provide actionable insights/recommendations. What you get to do Responsibilities Manage ongoing audience traffic and KPI reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis, delivering insights and recommendations to both business and editorial departments. Help QA first and third party analytics/research vendors (e.g. Google Analytics, comScore) in relation to tagging and implementation with product and technology teams. Provide data-driven feedback and actionable insights to our editorial teams regarding content/topic performance onsite off-platform (social media, video, etc.). Create and maintain regular reports analyzing the performance of The Daily Beast vs. the competitive set. Help conceptualize, design, built, and automate reports/dashboards that provide insights into The Daily Beast’s audience (e.g. consumption, engagement, traffic). Work closely with Revenues team to understand financial implications of product tests and launches. Respond to ad hoc analytics requests efficiently and clearly. Help disseminate audience insights across all departments (Tech, Product, Editorial, Marketing, Revenue). Qualifications Desired Skills Hands‑on experience with reporting and analysis using major web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Parse.ly/Chartbeat. Expert fluency in Excel; ideally some experience working with SQL/R/Python/BigQuery datasets. A demonstrated ability to distil data into logical analysis, insights and recommendations in straightforward and simple language. Ability to clearly articulate and present findings and recommendations to editorial and business/technical teams. Comfort in presenting with a wide variety of stakeholders, and managing requests from various teams. Experience with defining, implementing and analyzing A/B and multivariate experiments. Passion for The Daily Beast’s journalism and the news industry overall. Qualified Skills 3+ years of experience in digital analytics, digital research, content strategy. Deep familiarity with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Chartbeat. Working knowledge of SQL/R/Python/BigQuery a plus. Comfortable forecasting/creating and measuring on and off-platform KPIs across multiple products and projects. Experience with subscription analytics (e.g. analyzing the funnel) a big plus.
