Child & Family Therapist - Posting #25573 Hourly Rate: $32.26 - $35.35 Annual Salary: $73,528.00 (Licensed) Incentive: Up to $2,000 per week for productivity Position Summary Sea Mar Behavioral Health in Kelso, WA is hiring a full‑time Child and Family Therapist. The therapist provides individual and/or family therapy, case management, crisis stabilization, treatment planning, and may lead groups. The therapist also provides referrals and coordinates with medication providers, primary physicians and other community partners. Competence in mental health diagnosis and treatment planning is required. The position may involve working later hours and in non‑traditional settings such as schools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Administrative Assists in ensuring agency compliance with WAC, RCW and other pertinent laws, regulations, and contracts. Assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures as directed by the Program Director. Educates staff regarding mental‑health service referrals and psycho‑educational topics (suicide risk assessment, behavior modification, etc.) as directed by the Program Manager. Maintains documentation of mental‑health services and follows through in patient charts. Clinical Duties Provides developmental and culturally appropriate formal and informal diagnostic assessments for each patient during the program, documents outcomes, justifies diagnoses, and communicates with collaborative partners regarding outcomes and recommendations. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, specifically children and families. Provides information about assessments and involves family members as active participants in the assessment process and in treatment planning, where appropriate. Collaborates with other professionals in conducting family‑centered assessments and treatment planning, when appropriate. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan. Identifies and categorizes each patient’s age‑specific grouping of needs (infant, adolescent, adult or geriatric). Recommends psychiatric and medication management services as appropriate, collaborates with providers to ensure accurate presentation and addresses identified needs. Provides individual and/or family counseling, in coordination with other systems as needed. Conducts suicide risk assessment and develops treatment plans to address suicidal ideation or gestures; uses case management as needed and provides crisis stabilization. Collects information on past mental‑health services for use in the treatment plan; provides mental‑health service referrals to patients before or after admission and exchanges information with outside service providers. Supports staff regarding mental‑health needs, maintains confidentiality, prevents splitting between staff and patients, and offers concrete ideas on handling challenging situations. Productivity Standard Produce a minimum of 80 encounters that equal at least 80 hours of face‑to‑face contact. Qualifications An understanding of the Behavioral Health Organization, County, and/or MCO contracts and the ability to tier clients in a managed care system. Ability to work effectively with all persons and groups with an open mind towards cultural differences and knowledge of cultures. Ability to accurately diagnose mental health issues and develop treatment plans based upon diagnoses. Ability not to misdiagnose behavioral problems as mental illnesses unless appropriate. Understanding of chemical dependency treatment and ability to coordinate mental‑health services with chemical dependency treatment providers if necessary. Completion of an annual clinical competency test as a mental‑health therapist. Signing a permanent oath of confidentiality covering all patient‑related information. Pass a background check. Education & Experience Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work, including coursework in psychological diagnostics (required). Meet WAC requirements for a Mental Health Professional. CMHS preferred or willingness to work towards it; English/Spanish bilingual preferred. Computer proficiency with Cerner, MS Office, and other medical software. Experience with evidence‑based models and wrap‑around services preferred. Experience working with children and families required. Bilingual Spanish/English highly desirable.
