Job Details Job ID: 5609524 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Mar 26, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Title: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP) Reports to: Director of Exceptional Children Terms of Employment: Full Time (10 Months) Salary: $3,734.14 – $5,884.57 per month FLSA Exempt/Non‑Exempt: Non‑Exempt Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant Passing score on a competency test approved by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists for assistants Registration as an assistant with the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists by a supervising speech‑language pathologist who is licensed by the NC Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists Supervises None Essential Job Functions Administers screening protocols. Administers therapeutic treatment protocols written by the speech‑language pathologist. Communicates with students and other professionals to meet the emotional needs of students. Obtains case histories and completes observation checklists. Manages behavior using appropriately designed management techniques. Summarizes and records target behaviors during therapy sessions. Provides student services directly and indirectly. Performs clerical and administrative functions. Organizes and manages student data and records. Tabulates and scores tests. Arranges the clinical‑educational setting to maintain a safe and positive environment. Manages, operates, programs, and/or monitors equipment and materials. Performs all other duties as assigned. Physical and Cognitive Requirements The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant job classification within the Exceptional Children Program of Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Must be able to: Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, kneel, crouch, keep requiring repetitive motions. Use visual acuity in preparing and analyzing written or computer data. Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts. Operate a variety of machines and job specific equipment and tools. Determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work. Observe general surroundings and activities. Hear sufficiently to accurately perceive information at normally spoken word levels, receive detailed information through oral communications and make fine distinctions in sound. Communicate by spoken word to express or exchange ideas and convey detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Safely work in situations of exposure to blood borne pathogens which may require specialized personal protective equipment. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology, normal communication, development, phonetics, developmental psychology, various types of disabilities seen in school children, various speech‑language disorders and approaches to therapeutic educational intervention. Demonstrate a working knowledge of behavioral management practices. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the operation of schools. Obtain case histories and complete observation checklists. Administer speech‑language screening and therapeutic protocols. Manage, operate, program and/or monitor clinical‑educational equipment and materials. Communicate effectively with students, families and professionals. Prepare and maintain accurate records. Arrange the therapy setting to maintain a safe and positive environment.
