Job Responsibilities Responsible for performing one or a combination of professional-level probation and parole functions including supervision of intensive, high, and administrative risk offenders; conducting investigations; overseeing court and board related functions; and performing general law enforcement duties such as maintaining order during emergencies and participating in special operations. Responsible for gathering information regarding the criminogenic risks and needs of incarcerated inmates and utilizing evidence-based practices to develop and document re‑entry and supervision plans. Minimum And Additional Requirements A bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses and experience in probation and parole work. An associate’s degree and two years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted, or a high school diploma and four years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted. Special Requirements Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23‑23‑40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976. Must be currently Class 1 (C‑1) certified law enforcement officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses; an associate’s degree and two years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four years of military or law enforcement experience may be substituted.
