Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production and facility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports continuous manufacturing operations by performing both scheduled and emergency maintenance on automated systems, facility infrastructure, and related mechanical and electrical components.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated production equipment such as conveyors, robotic arms, and pneumatic systems.
- Maintain and service facility systems including compressors, chillers, dust collectors, and lighting to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
- Perform mechanical repairs on gearboxes, chains, pulleys, and pneumatic components, ensuring equipment operates within specifications.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including AC/DC systems, high and low voltage circuits, sensors, motors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, blueprints, and work orders to perform accurate and efficient maintenance.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment safely and effectively during maintenance and repair tasks.
- Troubleshoot and support automation and robotics systems, including PLC-related issues, to maintain continuous production.
- Report equipment issues, recurring problems, and unusual conditions to supervisors and maintenance leadership in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety procedures and company policies.
- Log daily maintenance activities, findings, and repairs using company software and documentation tools.
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations.
Essential Skills
- Strong electrical troubleshooting experience, including diagnosing and repairing AC/DC systems, high and low voltage circuits, sensors, motors, and VFDs.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on mechanical and pneumatic systems knowledge, including working with gearboxes, chains, pulleys, pneumatic cylinders, and piping.
- Experience with facility systems such as compressors, chillers, and dust collectors.
- Strong experience using hand tools, power tools, and electric meters safely and effectively.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Understanding of automation and robotics systems and their maintenance requirements.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
- Exposure to robotics maintenance and repair in automated production lines.
- Familiarity with welding processes as part of equipment repair and fabrication.
- Knowledge of AC/DC motors, including installation, alignment, and repair.
- Experience with HVAC systems in a production or facility setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and equipment manuals.
- Comfort working with both mechanical and electrical systems in an integrated manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
This role primarily operates on second shift, working Tuesday through Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Initial training takes place on first shift for approximately 1 to 2 months, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, depending on individual progress. The position is based in a manufacturing facility with work performed across two adjacent buildings. The production floor has a noticeable paint-like smell due to materials used in the manufacturing process. Technicians use a variety of hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment, and work around automated production systems, robotics, compressors, chillers, dust collectors, and related machinery. A clean-shaven appearance is required to ensure proper fit and function of respirators when entering designated areas where respiratory protection is necessary. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while working on and around industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
