Claims Auto Adjuster

We’re looking for a qualified and experienced claims adjuster to join our team as an Agent. This role focuses on handling first‑party property claims, investigating, estimating, negotiating and resolving claims in accordance with our standards and state regulations. Responsibilities Handles 1st party property claims of moderate severity and complexity as assigned. Completes field inspections of losses, capturing accurate scope of damages, photographs, written estimates and/or computer‑assisted estimates. Uses innovative technologies to streamline claim processes. Investigates and evaluates all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages and liability, including reviewing leases, contracts, by‑laws and other documents. Establishes timely and accurate claim and expense reserves. Determines appropriate settlement amount based on independent judgment, building and/or contents estimate, actual cash value and replacement value, contractor estimate validation, appraisals and applicable limits and deductibles. Negotiates with contractors or insured representatives and conveys settlements within authority limits. Writes denial letters, reservation of rights and other complex correspondence. Assesses extent of damages and manages damages through cost evaluation tools. Meets all quality standards and expectations in accordance with Knowledge Guides. Manges diary system, capturing all required data and documents for claim file activities. Maintains file inventory to ensure timely resolution. Provides excellent customer service to insured, agents and other internal and external customers. Recognizes when to refer claims to Travelers Special Investigations Unit and/or Subrogation Unit. Identifies and refers Major Case Unit exposures to the manager. Performs administrative functions such as expense accounts, time‑off reporting, etc., as required. Supports multi‑line assistance for Auto, Workers Compensation, General Liability and other areas as needed. May provide mentoring and coaching to less‑experienced claim professionals. May attend depositions, mediations, arbitrations, pre‑trials, trials and other legal proceedings, as needed. Participates in Catastrophe Response Program, which may include deployment away for a minimum of 16 days (including 2 travel days). Maintains company credit card as required. A necessary condition for this role is the acquisition and maintenance of an Insurance License(s) and/or a UAS Remote Pilot Certification; licenses must be obtained within three months of starting and maintained through continuing education. Engages in resolution desk technical work and follow‑up call work on a rotational basis. Accessibility is required for inspecting all areas of a dwelling or structure; the position is physically demanding and may require climbing ladders, walking on roofs and entering tight spaces. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. General knowledge of estimating systems such as Xactimate. Customer service experience. Advanced interpersonal and customer service skills. Advanced organizational and time‑management skills. Intermediate ability to work independently. Intermediate judgment, analytical and decision‑making skills. Intermediate negotiation skills. Interim written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Intermediate investigative skills. Intermediate ability to analyze and determine coverage. Intermediate ability to analyze and evaluate damages. Intermediate ability to resolve claims within settlement authority. Valid passport. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. One year of previous outside property claim handling experience or successful completion of Travelers Outside Claim Representative training program. Valid driver’s license.
