Position Summary

The Behavioral Technician provides one-on-one support and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. The technician implements individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), helping clients develop communication, social, behavioral, and daily-living skills.

 

Key Responsibilities

Follow confidentiality requirements, professional ethics, and organizational policies.

Complete session notes and other required documentation accurately and on time.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for clients.

Collaborate with families, caregivers, and clinical team members.

Monitor client progress and communicate updates to supervisors.

Collect, record, and maintain accurate behavioral and skill-development data.

Support clients in reducing challenging behaviors through approved intervention strategies.

Use positive reinforcement, prompting, and other approved ABA techniques.

Teach communication, social interaction, play, self-help, and daily-living skills.

Implement individualized treatment and behavior intervention plans developed by the supervising BCBA.

Provide one-on-one behavioral therapy and intervention services to clients.

 

Required Qualifications

Willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification and other required training.

Ability to complete required background checks and other pre-employment clearances.

Ability to follow instructions and work under clinical supervision.

Patience, empathy, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Strong interest in working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities.

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Child Development, Sociology, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field preferred or required, depending on the employer's hiring criteria.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with behavioral data collection and documentation systems.

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or willingness to pursue certification.

Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Previous experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities.
