Summary The Bacterial Immunology Lead Scientist will drive research initiatives in bacterial immunology, contributing to the development of vaccines and therapeutics targeting high-priority biological threat agents. This position requires advanced knowledge of immune responses to bacterial pathogens, leadership in laboratory research, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and collaborations. Responsibilities Lead bacterial immunology studies within the Bacteriology Division. Design and oversee experiments supporting vaccine and therapeutic research. Maintain compliance with biosafety and regulatory standards (e.g., BSL-2/3). Analyze data and prepare technical reports and publications. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Mentor junior scientists and technicians. Write reports and publications, and present findings in meetings. Execute assigned tasks and share findings with other members of the project team. Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge Expertise in bacterial pathogenesis and host immune response. Proficiency in scientific writing and presentation. Strong leadership and project management skills. Knowledgeable in a relevant field of life sciences and experience working in a research laboratory. Demonstrated subject matter expertise and ability to conduct independent research through publication of several technical reports and/or peer-reviewed publications. Experience managing a research laboratory and a small cadre of technicians. Good written and oral communication skills. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in immunology, microbiology, or related field with 4+ years of experience. Minimum 6 years of relevant laboratory and leadership experience in immunology or infectious disease research. Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA, and in vivo models. Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information required. Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required. Preferred Qualifications ACTIVE SECRET clearance is preferred. Ph.D. in immunology or a related biomedical field. Pay And Benefits The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $153,000 annually.
