The Store Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot plays a vital part in our customer experience. This role operates a cash register, assists customer needs, and keeps shelves stocked and visually appealing. The role also contributes to efficient operations by unloading and processing deliveries according to Company policies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building friendly rapport and providing exceptional service through exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model and fostering a welcoming environment.
• Operating a cash register efficiently, handling transactions accurately, and assisting customers with product inquiries, item location, and purchases.
• Promoting Company-wide customer initiatives like donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
• Maintaining accurate displays, restocking assigned areas, and ensuring OSJL merchandising standards are met.
• Unloading deliveries according to Company processes, organizing merchandise, and preparing it for the sales floor.
• Collaborating effectively and independently to achieve goals, proactively communicating opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
• Understanding, supporting, and implementing safety protocols throughout the store.
• Maintaining a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.

Qualifications:

Basic math and reading skills are required. Legible handwriting as well as good verbal and written communication skills are required. This position requires constant extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift. Responsible for physical activities including using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting on a frequent basis: Should be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
