Brief Description The Clinician provides comprehensive mental health services to students, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emotional and behavioral issues. Qualifications Master of Arts or Master of Science degree from an accredited graduate program with major in Social Work, Counseling, or other related degree required. These degrees must be license eligible (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC). BBS registration, licenses, credentials or like certifications must remain active and valid with their governing entity, if applicable One year of experience working with children preferred. Knowledge of community resources preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, Word. Bilingual preferred. A valid California driver's license is required of staff who have regular driving duties and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency’s insurance company. Essential Job Functions Operate an agency or personal vehicle for work-related activities which may include, client visits, meetings, trainings, or other agency-related appointments Ensure compliance with driving requirements, including maintaining a valid driver’s license, current vehicle registration, and proof of insurance as required by agency policy. Physical capability to restrain children, lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activity including various sports, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc. Ability to communicate ideas in oral and written form. Protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality. Ability to work in a harmonious manner with subordinates, supervisors, and others. Ability to instruct in group and individual settings. Ability to work effectively with cultural/ethnic diversity. Physical, mental and emotional health adequate to perform duties. Adhere to all applicable legal and ethical standards. Maintain current Medic First Aid certification and respond appropriately to medical incidents, ensuring the health and safety of clients and staff. Participate in and successfully complete the 28-hour initial Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training and maintain certification through a minimum of 12 hours of annual refresher training. Consistently apply TCI principles to manage crises safely and effectively, in alignment with trauma-informed care and agency protocols. Responsibilities Provide direct clinical services to clients. Utilize program specific screening tools, providing admission assessment and treatment planning for clients. Keep comprehensive clinical records that meet standards of the agency, The Joint Commission and contract. Collaborate with program staff, referring agency or other community agencies working with the client to coordinate treatment. Must implement program goals and objectives to meet and maintain contractual requirements and productivity. Effectively navigate and utilize all required electronic health records (EHR). Effectively communicate with clients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to teach life domain skills and adhere to principles of normalization. Participate in scheduled peer review. Responsible for preventing and controlling infection. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention. Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide. Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or intervention. Be available to milieu staff in regard to answering question and dealing with crises. Other Attend all required meetings and trainings. Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable. Other duties as assigned.
