RN Clinical Nurse II - 4YBH Unit at UNC Youth Behavioral Health Facility

Job Summary We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II for UNC Health Youth Behavioral Health (YBH) in Butner, North Carolina. The role focuses on delivering nursing care to pediatric patients with developmental disabilities and crisis stabilization. The position offers a 36‑hour week, 12‑hour day shifts, and an extensive benefits package. Responsibilities Education – Identifying learning needs, attending programs, and using patient education materials. Evaluation of Care – Establishing expected patient outcomes, participating in interdisciplinary discussions, and ensuring continuity of care. Implementation – Managing care of patients with complex problems, performing point‑of‑care testing, and consulting resources as needed. Leadership – Developing professional growth goals, collaborating on unit performance improvement, and promoting a safe hospital environment. Patient Assessment – Prioritizing care, assessing discharge needs, and building relationships with families. Planning – Updating the plan of care, utilizing multidisciplinary resources, and addressing cultural and ethnic factors. Research – Reviewing relevant journals and contributing to staff discussions. Qualifications Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina. Minimum one year of nursing experience, preference for pediatric or behavioral health nursing. Strong understanding of developmental disabilities, crisis stabilization, and behavioral/psychosocial needs. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Graduated from a school of professional nursing; if hired after January 6 , 2014 must complete a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Nursing within the required time frames. Work Schedule & Compensation 36 hours per week (full time) 12‑hour day shifts only; no rotating shifts or on‑call duties. Weekday and weekend scheduling preferred. Salary: $34.22–$48.38 per hour (based on experience and equity). Extensive benefit package including accrued PTO hours. Benefits Commitment incentive.
