Senior Litigation Paralegal
$75k - $100kFreed Marcroft Divorce and Family Law
Connecticut · Hybrid · $75,000–$100,000 + performance bonus · Senior, 10+ years About the job Our award-winning family law firm is looking for a seasoned litigation paralegal who plays all in. This is not a role for a paralegal early in their career. We're looking for someone with deep civil litigation experience who knows courts, knows discovery, knows how to manage a demanding docket, and knows how to keep everything moving without being asked twice. What sets the right person apart isn't the practice area they came from. It's how they take care of people under pressure. Because here's what this job is really about: our paralegals are in constant contact with clients. That is not a side function. It is the heart of the role. We need someone who has spent years owning client relationships, not just documents. Someone clients trust. Someone who has handled hard conversations with people on some of the worst days of their lives, and made them feel steadier for it. Someone who sees the bigger picture, both in the case itself and in the client who is struggling but hasn't said so yet. Who places excellence above all. Who knows what matters most is how we make people, both our clients and our colleagues, feel. Who has deep emotional intelligence and genuine empathy and respect for their clients and co-workers, and who understands that this includes telling people the truth, even when it's hard. Who understands that not having an answer is fine, but not answering isn't. Who knows the line between legal advice and client support cold, and understands that getting a client over to their attorney quickly is part of taking good care of them. Who wants their work measured candidly and transparently because they know they are the very best at what they do, and they want to work somewhere where they will be rewarded for their accomplishments. Who sees every opportunity as a chance to grow and improve. Who hates gossip, dwelling on negativity, and self-importance. The perfect person for this job, and for Freed Marcroft, is someone who understands that a rising tide lifts all boats. Position Overview We are looking for an experienced litigation paralegal who thrives under pressure and loves people, finding solutions, and technology. The ideal paralegal anticipates their clients' needs and questions ahead of time and provides them with information, updates, and support before they ask. Key Responsibilities Communicates with clients early and often, providing updates on status, court dates, scheduling, and next steps before clients have to ask. This is the core of the job, not an afterthought. Serves as the point person for all aspects of discovery, electronic evidence, and evidence production, including initial and updated financial affidavits. Prepares first drafts of pleadings, motions, notices, discovery responses, affidavits, financial affidavits, child support guidelines, and legal correspondence. Keeps the trains running on time while attorneys are in court, ensuring clients are well taken care of and nothing falls through the cracks. Manages and organizes client matters within the case management and electronic filing systems, receiving, filing, and indexing documents throughout the case. Creates and manages task lists based on upcoming court dates, deadlines, and status reports; ensures attorney calendars are properly maintained. Files with the court, communicates with court staff, and ensures proper service of process and notarization. Follows up with attorneys to get the answers and instructions needed to complete their work. Accurately and promptly enters time. Qualifications 10+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience with a proven track record of success. Family law experience is welcome but not required. Substantial direct client-facing experience is essential. You should be a paralegal who has owned client relationships and communication, not worked solely behind the scenes. In-depth knowledge of Connecticut litigation procedure, discovery, and court rules. Strong drafting and organizational skills; perfectionists welcome. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to handle difficult, emotional conversations with tact and calm. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and team members. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball. Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program preferred. $75,000 to $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus a performance bonus with clear KPIs. You'll know exactly what you need to hit and how to get there. Vision insurance Short- and long-term disability insurance 401(k) with match Paid time off Structured onboarding: extensive support during your transition into Freed Marcroft's culture and approach Individualized professional development and growth support Our Core Values Drive Our Success The work we do carries real emotional weight. We built this firm to help people when life doesn't go the way they expected, and that means hard days alongside the good ones. The people who do well here meet that weight with steadiness: they can see the silver lining in the thundercloud, and the opportunity wrapped up in what looks like a problem, without pretending the problem isn't there. If you're smart, serious, and funny, and you believe we can each bring something of our own to making people's lives better, we'll probably enjoy working together very much. To apply Resume plus a brief note: tell us about a client relationship you owned, and a moment in it where what you did mattered. #J-18808-Ljbffr
